Customised tube caps, designed to slot over the end of scaffold tube, perform two functions: protecting passers-by and preventing debris entering the tube. Gilray Plant’s tube caps are sold in boxes of 1200. We can offer tube caps that are customised, either by using a plastic in your company colour or by having your name stamped into the head of the tube cap.
It is 40 years since the Health and Safety at Work Act received Royal Assent, providing a new regulatory framework for workplace health and safety in Great Britain. The simple premise is that, ‘All workers are entitled to work in environments where risks to their health and safety are properly controlled. Under health and safety law, the primary responsibility for this is down to employers. Employers have a duty to consult with their employees, or their representatives, on health and safety matters.’ The interpretation and implementation of this directive is the business of all the other organisations concerned with the industry, ensuring that these conditions are constantly being met. With particular regard to scaffolding, the HSE states, ‘It is a requirement of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 that unless a scaffold is assembled to a generally recognised standard configuration, eg NASC Technical Guidance Note TG20 for tube and fitting scaffolds or similar guidance from manufacturers of system scaffolds, the scaffold should be designed by bespoke calculation, by a competent person, to ensure it will have adequate strength, rigidity and stability while it is erected, used and dismantled.’ The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) was founded in 1945. The NASC currently has over 200 Full member companies, of which Gilray Plant Ltd is one. NASC has a large number of standing committees whose job it is to consider all aspects of the industry on an ongoing basis to ensure best practice and maximum safety at all times.
